Empowering Inclusion: IYACODI Hosts Capacity Building Programme for Persons with Disabilities in Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos, Nigeria on February 28, 2026​

Theme: Different Abilities, Equal Love ❤️​ Every disability is a special ability in disguise​ On February 28, 2026, the Inclusive Youth and Community Development Initiative (IYACODI) delivered a powerful message of inclusion and empowerment during a Capacity Building Programme for Persons with Disabilities held in Ifako-Ijaiye, Lagos, Nigeria. In collaboration with the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Ifako-Ijaiye Chapter), the Ifako-Ijaiye Disability Network (IIDN), and the National Orientation Agency (NOA, Ifako Ijaiye), the programme was designed to strengthen the competencies, confidence, and self-reliance of persons with disabilities; empowering them to lead fulfilled, independent, and impactful lives. Programme Highlights The event featured impactful sessions delivered by experienced facilitators and advocates: Inspiring Keynote Session The Guest Speaker, Mrs. Adewumi Olufunmilola Rebecca, Chief Nutrition Officer with the Lagos State Health Service Commission and a person with disability, delivered an exceptional and inspiring presentation. Her session covered: The session was highly interactive, followed by an engaging Q&A segment, where participants openly shared their experiences and received practical guidance. Awareness & Rights Education Mrs. Folajaye Odeleye, representing the National Orientation Agency (NOA), delivered an enlightening session on: This session expanded participants’ understanding of their rights while promoting responsible environmental practices within their communities. ERASMUS+ ‘GREENOVATE’ PROJECT KICKOFF MEETING IN MASERU, LESOTHO. JANUARY, 2026

The Kick-Off Meeting of the GREENOVATE Project was successfully held in Maseru, Lesotho, from 19th to 23rd February 2026, and it was graciously hosted by the Ministry of Education and Training, Lesotho. The meeting brought together participants from partner organisations across Lesotho, Zambia, Nigeria, Botswana, Côte d’Ivoire, Tanzania, and Slovenia The program commenced with a courtesy visit to the Ministry, where the consortium had a productive meeting with the Deputy Permanent Secretary. This was followed by an engaging team-bonding session that allowed participants to introduce themselves and strengthen collaboration from the outset. The project coordinator then officially unveiled the GREENOVATE Project, outlining its vision, objectives, and expected impact. Each day of the meeting was highly interactive and informative. Partners thoroughly discussed and agreed on key project components, including activities, deliverables, roles, milestones, timelines, and responsibilities. Deliberations also covered Youth Participation Activities, Youth Exchanges, Youthpass, and non-formal education approaches, ensuring alignment and shared understanding among all partners. The sessions were enriched with vibrant intercultural activities, where partners showcased their respective countries’ cultures, traditions, and cuisines. A guided city tour further provided participants the opportunity to experience the beauty and heritage of Lesotho. Overall, the kick-off meeting was a great success. It strengthened partnerships, clarified roles and expectations, and resulted in concrete action plans toward achieving the goals of the GREENOVATE Project. Participants departed Lesotho with renewed commitment, stronger bonds, and lasting memories of a productive and inspiring gathering.

SENSITISATION AND CAMPAIGN AGAINST DRUS ABUSE, OCTOBER 2025

IYACODI Leads drug abuse sensitization program in collaboration with National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Orientation Agency (NOA), and Bizben International School The Inclusive Youth and Community Development Initiative (IYACODI), in partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), National Orientation Agency (NOA), and Bizben International School, organized a sensitization program themed “Protect Your Potential: Choose Life, Not Drugs.”The event was designed to educate and empower young people to make informed life choices, strengthen their understanding of civic values, and promote healthy, drug-free lifestyles. Highlights of the Program The program featured an interactive session led by representatives of the NDLEA, who enlightened students on the dangers of drug abuse, the various forms it can take, its health and social consequences, and effective prevention strategies. Students were also encouraged to take part in community advocacy against drug misuse. Representatives from the National Orientation Agency spoke on the citizens’ code and national values, emphasizing the importance of integrity, hard work, and discipline as pillars of personal and national growth. The IYACODI team delivered an engaging session on talent discovery, career development, and the role of technology and artificial intelligence (AI) in supporting positive lifestyles and future-oriented learning. Active engagement and community support Students demonstrated great enthusiasm throughout the event, actively engaging each speaker with thoughtful questions and discussions. The event also featured the presence of community stakeholders from the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), and the WAI Brigade, who lent their voices in support of youth empowerment and social reorientation. As part of its educational support initiative, IYACODI presented Bizben International School with educational materials; including books and pens, to be distributed among students to enhance their learning experiences. Impact and attendance In total, 165 students and 10 community stakeholders participated in this impactful program. This event was streamed live on Facebook and also shared across different social media platforms and blogs. The initiative reinforced IYACODI’s commitment to combating drug abuse amongst young people and also fostering informed, responsible, and value-driven youth who contribute positively to society.
